Privacy Policy
Effective October 28, 2026 · Hey Bungee for iPhone · Dolphy Technology LLC
The short version.
Bungee does not collect any information about you. There is no account and no Bungee server. What you save, what Bungee reads from it, your searches and your spoken questions stay on your iPhone. We never receive them. If you turn on iCloud sync, your saves also go to your own iCloud account, where we can’t read them.
What stays on your iPhone
Everything you put into Bungee is stored only on your device:
- The links, notes, photos, screenshots, PDFs, recordings and videos you save, and any notes you add to them.
- The text Bungee reads from them, the search index built from that text, and summaries written by Apple’s on-device model on iPhones that support it.
- Your searches, your spoken questions and Bungee’s answers.
- Your Projects and your settings.
Reading text in pictures, turning speech into text, finding meaning for search and answering questions all run on your iPhone using Apple’s on-device frameworks and a search model built into the app. None of it is sent to us or to any AI service.
Photos you save from your Photos library stay in Photos. Bungee keeps a small preview and a reference to the original.
What we collect
Nothing. We do not run analytics, we do not use advertising identifiers, we do not track you across apps or websites, and we do not sell or share any information, because we never have any. Bungee contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking code.
When your iPhone connects to the internet
Bungee works offline. It only goes online to read something you asked it to save, and in those cases your iPhone contacts that service directly. We are not in the middle, and nothing you have saved is sent along.
| When | Your iPhone contacts | What is sent |
|---|---|---|
| You save a web link | The website you saved | An ordinary request for that public page, as Safari would make |
| You save a YouTube, Vimeo, TikTok or X link | That service’s public embed and caption endpoints | The address of the video or post, to fetch its title, picture and public captions |
| A saved photo shows a book’s ISBN barcode | Open Library (openlibrary.org) | The ISBN number only, to look up the book’s title and author |
| You ask Bungee to look up your car’s VIN | The U.S. NHTSA vehicle decoder (vpic.nhtsa.dot.gov) | The VIN only, after you agree, to read the car’s year, make and model |
| You check your car for recalls | The U.S. NHTSA recall service (api.nhtsa.gov) | The car’s year, make and model only; never the VIN |
Those services receive your device’s IP address as part of any internet request, under their own privacy policies. Bungee sends them no identifier and no other information.
Permissions Bungee asks for
- Photos — only to save the pictures you choose and show them again. You can choose “Limited Access”.
- Microphone and Speech Recognition — only while you are asking a question out loud, and to read what is said in recordings and videos you save. Speech is turned into text on your iPhone.
- Notifications — only if you turn on reminders or “Bring back old saves”.
- Camera — only when you take a photo in Bungee, such as a receipt or a room in the Move-in kit.
- Reminders — only when you tap to hand a date to Apple Reminders.
- Calendar — only when you tap to add a date Bungee found to your calendar.
- Face ID — only if you turn on Face ID lock. Apple handles the check; Bungee never sees your face data.
Every permission is optional and can be changed at any time in the iPhone Settings app.
Purchases
Hey Bungee Plus is bought through Apple. Apple handles payment and tells Bungee, on your iPhone, only whether your subscription is active. We receive no payment details, name or email from the purchase. See the terms.
iCloud sync
iCloud sync is part of Hey Bungee Plus and is off until you turn it on in Settings. When it is on, Bungee keeps your saves the same on your devices by storing them in the private database of your own iCloud account (Apple’s CloudKit, container iCloud.com.dolphytech.heybungee). The contents of your saves are stored in CloudKit’s encrypted fields, and the files as encrypted assets; with Advanced Data Protection turned on for your Apple Account, they are end-to-end encrypted. A private iCloud database belongs to you: we, the developer, cannot read it, and we receive nothing from it.
Turning sync off stops this iPhone sending and receiving changes; your saves stay on the iPhone and in your iCloud. To remove Bungee’s data from iCloud, open your iCloud storage settings in the iPhone Settings app and choose Hey Bungee. If a different Apple Account signs in to iCloud, sync turns itself off and nothing from this library is sent to that account.
Backups, export and deletion
If you use iCloud Backup, your Bungee library is included in your iPhone’s backup, which Apple stores and protects under your Apple Account. You can export your whole library to one file at any time (Settings › Export my library), and restore it into Bungee on any iPhone.
To delete everything, open Settings › Erase everything. It removes your saves, everything Bungee read from them, the search index, Projects, previews and stills. Deleting the app also removes all of it from your iPhone.
Crash reports
If you choose to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone’s settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports. These contain technical information about the crash and never include your saves or anything you typed or said.
Children
Bungee is suitable for all ages and collects no information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. If Bungee ever introduces a feature that would send any of your information off your iPhone, it will ask you first, for that feature, before anything is sent.
