The Home Depot return policy: how long do you have?

The The Home Depot return window for most things, the exceptions that are shorter, and what to bring, read from The Home Depot’s own policy page.

The quick answer

The Home Depot gives most merchandise 90 days with proof of purchase. Furniture, TVs and computers, and gas-powered outdoor tools get 30 days; air conditioners, dehumidifiers and portable generators 7 days.

When the clock starts

For major appliances (refrigerators, washers, dryers, ranges, dishwashers and built-in microwaves), call within 48 hours of delivery, not counting weekends, to report damage or a defect.

Receipts and lookups

Most returns need proof of purchase. The Home Depot can decline returns of products damaged by the customer.

Don’t lose the window

Don’t open a sealed box until you’re sure. Several of the shorter windows only apply to unused items in their original packaging.
