Walmart return policy: how long do you have?

The Walmart return window for most things, the exceptions that are shorter, and what to bring, read from Walmart’s own policy page.

The quick answer

Walmart gives most items 90 days after purchase or receipt. Consumer electronics and computers get 30 days, most wireless phones 14 days, and major appliances 2 days after delivery.

When the clock starts

Walmart counts “after purchase or upon receipt”, so an online order’s clock starts when it arrives.

Receipts and lookups

Bring the store receipt or the Walmart.com order number for a refund to your original payment. Without one, Walmart says it can try to look up store purchases by the card you paid with, or online orders by phone number or email.

Holiday returns

Most items bought from October 1 through December 31 can be returned until January 31. Exceptions include wireless phones, protection plans, major appliances, Dyson products and select seasonal and luxury goods.

Don’t lose the window

The big-ticket items have the short windows. A laptop bought in October is due back in 30 days, not 90, unless the holiday extension covers it.

Let the receipt remind you

Snap or share your Walmart receipt into Hey Bungee. It reads the store, the total and the return date, and comes back a few days before the window closes. Free, on your iPhone, no account.
